Messhof's new game is finally here. Today, a mere 2 days from the release of the trailer and after Messhof's showing of the game in Brooklyn (for more info about it, auntie pixelante went and wrote about it).

Cowboyana is a 2 player only action adventure. So to test it out I needed a friend. No friend around so my brother had to do the trick. As you can guess from the title, the ambientation of the game is that of old wild west. Music by Jordan Stone.

Cowboyana has what you would expect from a messhof game. All fun no sense. Oh, and murderous difficulty. The controls are hard to master at first but otherwise it's endless fun. Since the game doesn't end. It picks scenes randomly and goes on forever. Although the payer that's doing best will get the best part in the next scene. Which means that if you do worse, you are probably stuck as the horse, or not there at all, as you can see in the screenshot above. It happened when we were trying to pour whisky from the Cowboyana bottle to our glasses and I decided I had to kill my buddy.

The controls are quite cramped to play comfortably, but that's personal preference, so if you have a pad around it's best to use the JoyToKey that comes with the game.

The controls are simple, WASD or arrow keys (depending on which player you are) to move and aim. I or F to shoot, O or G to jump and P or H to reload. The reload system you might love or you might hate. To reload you have to press the reload button and choose with the direction keys which chamber of your gun you want to reload. It sounds worse reading this than what it is. As a simple sweep of the arrow keys will fully reload your gun.

In conclusion, Cowboyana is a game to deffinetly have when you invite friends around.
