Nicewrench is a prototype based on Messhof's Flywrench, developed by Jonathan Blow, better known for Braid.
The prototype consists in only one stage, the aim of which is to obtain as many stars as you can. The gameplay is very similar to the game it is based on. You take control of a white stick, you rotate with the left and right arrow keys, you fly forward by pressing up (and that makes you turn red), and if you press down you turn green. Simple. There are white, red and green gates which you can only go through if the colour of your ship matches.
The main difference whith Flywrench is that in this game the aim shifts from punishing the player to exploration. In Nicewrench you cannot die. Showing how can a small difference can make such an effect in the feeling of the game.
Getting to the end of the game is not difficult, but trying 100% completion can be very difficult, specially since most stars are located on the mentioned gates, and to obtain them you must go through the gate at the first try. If you don't make it at the first try the star will dissapear forever.
