GINORMO SWORD is an action-adventure flash game with a few RPG elements developed by Barbarageo. Set in a fantasy world, you take control of a pixelated pink knight and have to make your way through 16 bosses (well, I think, I haven't beaten the game yet, maybe tomorrow) and tons of different enemies. In your way you will find plenty of things to hel you, from shop owners that sell you things ranging from the cheap to the get-a-loan area, to eventually partners you can hire at a price and that will be as usefull as a spoonful of water at times.
Of couse, you cannot forget the blacksmith. You find him early in the game and, I presume, he gives name to the game. This man is able to raise the level of your sword at a price and then break the law of conservation of mass/matter for free, turning a dagger into a sword of a size that would make Cloud turn to a corner and cry, all by just stretching and widening the thing. According to most this is phallic imagery, and honestly I agree.
On to the game itself, I have to say GINORMO SWORD is a very adictive game, it is as simple as you can get. You can only carry one sword and one spell at any given time, and have to go to the inn to change it. But it is all for the best since a simple click on the left mouse button will unleash a spell and swing your sword. You move by moving the mouse around. But expect a lot of clicking, that's for sure.
The aim in each map section (there is a total of 16 as far as I can tell) is to find all the enemy areas and kill all the enemies in each area. Sometimes the enemies that the game spawns are far too strong for you to handle, in such case you just go out of the area and go back in. It spawns a new set of enemies. The problem is that you can accidently go out of the area, and have to go back in and start over again. And it's not that much of a nuisance since you health regenerates too. If you are killed it's the same thing as if you had left the area.
The graphics are charming, they give the game a retro feeling that is just fitting. The only problem is that the sound effects are too, retro. And given the pace of the game they can become repetitive.
Now, how long before the Ginormously Multiplayer Online version of this?
For the love of crap. That joke was bad.
Play the game.
