Kian Bashini (AKA Mazapán), developer of You Have To Burn The Rope, a self-explanatory flash tittle, was recently interviewed by the guys at Indie Games - The Weblog.
The interview contains a lot of great information, and it covers a lot of interesting areas. Or at least areas I find interesting: his thoughts while he was making the game, a bit on the process of making the game, how people react to the game, and how he is coping with all the attention the game has brought up recently.
Follow up:
Kian Bashini is a Swedish Computer Game Developer at the Stockholm University. He also likes short senteces (possibly shot games too) [Info from his About page]
Tell us about some of your favorite YHTBTR mentions on the internet, and also the best comments or emails you've received for the game.
I've been reading so many comments.. I like reading those from people that really get it, although you can do that on many different levels. My favorite mention was probably the one on gaygamer. They said the main character looked like a testicle.
The interview can be read following the link here or at the top if this entry. You can also read the mentioned mention here.
Also I recomment you go to Kian Bashini's page, and check out all the cool stuff he has there. You can also play the other games he has developed, that although are not as revolutional as You Have To Burn The Rope, they are a good way of spending your time, plus they helped Kian practice to make You Have To Burn The Rope. You should check out Henrik Nåmark's page (the guy who made the music for the game).
The part about the interview I find the most confusing is:
What's the craziest YHTBTR-related thing you've seen on the internet?
Craziest thing.. hm, I got to know that the president of a swedish gaming company that I'm about to apply to (for the summer as a Flash programmer) loved my game. Also the spanish wikipedia site. It's hilarious. : D
Oh, any I was approached by Clint Hocking (Ubisoft game designer), that was crazy. Then there's the text version of YHTBTR by Michael Cook. It's great and by far the best tribute. : )
I've gone over the spanish wikipedia article on You Have To Burn The Rope, and I cannot figure out why it's that hilarious, it's quite complete, actually. Although I have to wonder if Kian knows Mazapán (with the exact spelling) is the spanish word for marzipan.
